Cerbo connects experts with those who want to learn life skills. Whether you want to speak Spanish, play the guitar, cook Thai food, handle your personal finances, or fix your broken heart, you’ll be able to find a Cerbo to meet your needs.

Cerbo is the Esperanto word for “brain.” Esperanto was created to break down communication barriers and build connections among people from various linguistic backgrounds. A Cerbo is an expert who wants to share his or her knowledge and connect with people from different cultures.

Anyone can register and browse our courses free of charge—you only pay for sessions. Note that new users are granted one free one-on-one session and one free group session.

Interaction is at our core. We believe that online education should be based on an individualized learning process, not pre-recorded videos. Our meeting environment allows you to interact with an expert, receive personal feedback, and learn a skill you actually care about. It’s all about focusing on your personal needs.

Simply click the Register button on the landing page and follow the instructions. You can skip a few steps during registration, but you will need to complete them when you register for a course.

Use the Courses and Cerbos tabs on the home page to browse by course or instructor. The search bar and advanced search features will help you find the course you’re looking for.

Click on a course to find more details, including a description, cancellation policy, materials, reviews, and price. The course fees and calendar are located in the upper-right corner. The calendar displays the Cerbo’s availability. Simply click the time you wish to reserve and then hit “book”. A confirmation page will allow you to double-check the details.

You and your instructor will receive emails including the session time and other details. We encourage Cerbos to respond as soon as possible. They can either accept or reject your booking request, and you will be notified of their decision. This information is also displayed under Notifications. If the session is confirmed, simply wait for your scheduled time. Otherwise, you can try booking a different time or instructor.

Your session will be confirmed when the instructor accepts your request. You will receive an email and a Cerbo notification.

Cerbos may reject a booking request for many reasons. In this case, try booking at a different time or with a different Cerbo.

You can book sessions up to 60 days in advance.

While you won’t be charged upon booking, you will be charged the full amount once the instructor accepts your request. We hold all payments for 24 hours after your session is scheduled to end to ensure that both parties are satisfied.

New users are given one free trial for a 15-minute one-on-one session and one for a 30-minute group session. Free trials are only valid with Cerbos who participate in the Free Trial Campaign.

Cerbo instructors can make their courses part of the Free Trial Campaign. This is intended to help newcomers acclimate to the platform before enrolling in a full course. The advanced search function allows you to search for eligible courses.

Cerbo instructors can also offer trial discounts to offer a lower rate for the initial lesson. Use the advanced search function to find these courses.

Cerbo instructors can create packages of 3, 5, or 10 sessions. They can also create their own discounts. Cerbo will display any package discounts offered by the instructor. Courses with package discounts will feature a package icon on their course page.

We charge learners a service fee in order to manage the Cerbo platform.

This fee ranges from 0% and 17% of the booking subtotal. It is based on a series of factors, which may include the booking subtotal, discounts, and the length and type of the session, among other criteria. Learners can view this fee on the booking confirmation page.

When Cerbo is legally required to collect VAT, the service fee and VAT amounts will be displayed on the course and booking confirmation pages.

You can view session information on your dashboard. Past and upcoming sessions will be shown on the calendar. You can view details for upcoming sessions under Future sessions. Finished sessions are added to Statistics.

Instructors can create one-on-one sessions of 30, 45, or 60 minutes, along with 15-minute free trials. Group sessions may last 30, 60, or 90 minutes.

The dashboard is designed to help you manage your sessions. From the dashboard, you can check your calendar, join sessions, reschedule or cancel future sessions, rate and rebook your past sessions, write yourself reminders, and view statistics on your Cerbo activity.

Let your Cerbo know if you know you’ll be late for a session. Your instructor should wait in the session environment. You can access the environment at any point during your scheduled session time.

You may leave the session if the Cerbo is not present at the scheduled time. You may also report them if you feel you have been disrespected or deceived. We encourage Cerbo instructors to let you know they are running late, so check your Cerbo messages. If you ask for a full refund, this will be treated as if the instructor canceled the session. Tardiness is automatically displayed on an instructor’s profile and negatively affects their course promotion.

Cerbo provides a session report after each completed session. They contain information about the session, such as length and class size. They also display the total cost and what payment method was used.

You must bring any errors to Cerbo’s attention within 3 days. At that point, you have accepted all fees described in the session report.

Cerbo will email you a written report each month summarizing your activity on the Cerbo platform.

To ensure a high-quality experience for both learners and instructors, we recommend high-speed internet and a laptop with a built-in webcam. As an alternative, we also recommend a desktop computer, an external microphone, and a webcam with HD camera. Although not required, headphones may enhance your session experience.

If you want to test your connection, please don’t hesitate to reach out to contact@cerbo.me and set up a one-on-one session with one of our experts.

Simply click your picture in the top-right corner, then click Settings.

To delete your account, go to Contact and select Subject > Delete account.

Go to Settings > Payment method to add your payment and payout methods. You may add a credit card, debit card (U.S. residents only), and/or bank account information. You need a payment method to make booking requests.

You may edit existing payment methods from Settings > Payment method.

Your payment method will be charged all session fees once the instructor accepts your booking request. We will hold the payment for 24 hours after your session is scheduled to finish. This gives both parties time to ensure any issues are resolved.

Refunds are issued based on your session’s cancellation policy. Please check the Rescheduling & cancellations section for more information.

Cerbo instructors may cancel a session for many reasons. We apologize for any inconvenience. In these rare situations, you will receive a full refund.

While we process refunds immediately, it may take up to 7 business days for the funds to reach your account.

The learner’s service fee may range from 0% to 17% of the booking subtotal. It is calculated using a number of factors. These may include the booking subtotal, discounts, and the length and type of the session. Cerbos can view this fee in the Booking price section. Learners can see it on the booking confirmation page.

You may message any instructor to whom you’ve sent a booking request. All messages will appear in your inbox. Contact us immediately if a message makes you feel uncomfortable or if someone tries to have you pay outside Cerbo. Paying and communicating through Cerbo is the only way to ensure that you’re protected under our Terms of Service and Rescheduling and Cancellation Policies.

Cerbo depends on a peer-review system. You’ll be able to review the instructor and their course after each session.

Only those who have completed a session with a given instructor will be able to write a review of them and their course.

You will be able to write a review for two weeks following your session.

Cerbo instructors are rated on expertise, listening, commitment, enthusiasm, and communication. Course ratings are based on content, environment, appeal, structure, and relevance.

Our policies are intended to protect both learners and instructors. They provide guarantees to both sides in cases of last-minute cancellation, no-show, or payment failure/delay. Our ultimate goal is to respect the time and money both parties have invested.

Rescheduling policies determine how and when instructors and learners may reschedule sessions. Cerbos and learners may reschedule each one-on-one session once. The other party is free to accept or reject reschedule requests.

You may only make one reschedule request per session, which should be made as far in advance as possible. It will be confirmed once accepted by your Cerbo instructor.

You may send a reschedule request at Dashboard > Future Sessions > Modify > Reschedule. Your session will be officially rescheduled once the Cerbo accepts your request.

Your instructor may not reply to your reschedule request. We do our best to notify them, but we cannot guarantee a response. In this case, you can keep the original date and time or cancel the session.

If they reject the request, you can keep the original date and time or cancel the session. Keep in mind that if no action is taken, the session will remain scheduled at the original date and time.

While you cannot reschedule a group session, you can cancel it and book another at a more convenient time.

You’re free to accept or reject any reschedule requests. If you accept it, you’ll be confirmed for the new date and time. Otherwise, you’ll receive a full refund.

Cerbo instructors choose one of four cancellation policies (Flexible, Standard, Slightly Firm, and Firm) when creating their courses. Each cancellation policy is unique and can be viewed in more detail here. These policies protect learners and instructors against last-minute cancellations, no-shows, and payment failures/delays. They are intended to respect the time and money both sides have invested.

Absolutely. Check your course’s cancellation policy first to determine your refund eligibility. Each cancellation policy is unique and can be viewed in more detail here.

Cerbo connects experts with those who want to learn life skills. Whether you’re an expert in Spanish, playing the guitar, cooking Thai food, handling personal finances, or fixing broken hearts, you’ll be able to turn that knowledge into income and connect with people who want to learn your expertise.

Cerbo is the Esperanto word for “brain.” Esperanto was created to break down communication barriers and build connections among people from various linguistic backgrounds. A Cerbo is an expert who wants to share his or her knowledge and connect with people from different cultures.

Cerbos have valuable knowledge and want to share it with the world. Many Cerbos are looking for one or more of the following:

  • 1) Spending less time and money chasing customers.

A Cerbo may be a professional who sells his or her expertise online but has difficulty finding new customers and gaining their trust. Cerbos have often tried promoting their services on social media, but they need thousands of followers (or significant financial investment) in order to succeed, and their ads rarely reach the right people. Cerbo gives them a better way to connect with those who want to learn.

  • 2) Having access to an additional source of income.,

A Cerbo may be a specialist who has spent time improving his or her knowledge but doesn’t have a way to turn it into a living. Their specialized, technical expertise is extremely valuable, but without an easy way to find people who are interested in their skills, they cannot turn their unique abilities into income.

  • 3) Enjoying work autonomy and flexibility.,

A Cerbo may be an unsatisfied professional. Many are tired of putting in all the work while watching someone else enjoy the fruits of their labor. Others are overqualified but unemployed. Either way, they’re eager to make their own rules, create their own schedules, and become the masters of their own fate.

  • 4) Turning a unique life skill or talent into a living.

A Cerbo may have a unique ability or skill that isn’t accounted for in traditional institutions. Their talents are valuable in real-life situations, but they’ve never been able to use them to generate income. They’re looking for a way to achieve their full potential.

  • 5) Meeting people and making connections

A Cerbo may be an expert with extensive knowledge of a particular area or hobby. They’ve gained experience over a long period of time, possibly through a related job, or often in their personal time. These people, many of whom are retired, have enough free time to share their skills. They enjoy connecting with new learners and think of sharing their knowledge as a fun activity.

You don’t have to be a Ph.D. or senior manager to become a Cerbo (although they make great Cerbos as well :)). All you need is expertise. Becoming a Cerbo is simple. The requirements vary depending on the skill you want to teach (click here for more information). There are many ways to show that you’ve got what it takes. We accept everything from degrees and work experience to blogs and portfolios. We don’t want this process to be boring or bureaucratic—we believe the most valuable feedback comes from those you teach. That’s the beauty of building a community of experts and learners from all over the world.

Once you have completed registration, the Become a Cerbo tab will be displayed on your home page. Simply click this tab and follow the onscreen instructions!

Nothing—it’s absolutely free!

Once you register on Cerbo, the Become a Cerbo tab will be available on your home page. This will help you create your Cerbo profile. You can edit your profile in Settings.

You can edit most profile features on your Settings page. Some features, such as the banner picture, can be modified directly on your profile page.

There is no minimum requirement. While you’re free to work as much or as little as you want, teaching more courses will likely increase your outreach. The "Most Popular" page showcases some of the best classes available on Cerbo.

In order to keep our community safe, we need to know that everyone on Cerbo is real. Requiring IDs is one of many ways in which we maintain a trusted community and workplace.

You will be asked for your availability when you create your Cerbo profile. If you skip this step during the Become a Cerbo process, you can edit it at any time by going to Settings > Profile > Availabilities.

Absolutely! Simply go to your Dashboard and click on the time in your calendar. You can mark any time as Unavailable. Switching to Unavailable will prevent learners from booking a session with you at that specific time.

It’s easy to create a new course! Once you have registered as a Cerbo, simply click your picture on the home page, then click Create course.

You can edit a course by clicking Edit course on the course page. You can change the Course picture, session name, category, subject, tags, and description. Once you’re done, click on Save to update your course page.

Categories represent a group of subjects. Language Learning, for example, is a category containing different subjects like English, Spanish, and French. A course is a series of sessions on a particular subject. Tags describe courses and work as filters when someone searches for a course. For instance, a Cerbo can create a course called English with TV Series: Friends. This would likely fall under the category Language Learning and the subject English. Tags for this course could include American English, TV Series Class, and Intermediate English. In other words, category > subject > tag. Each course is classified by one category, one subject, and up to three tags.

You may teach up to 3 subjects. If you’re a Yoga instructor who cooks amazing vegan food and has great NYC travel hacks, you could teach Yoga, Cooking, and Trip Planning to NYC. Keep in mind that you must meet the minimum requirements for each category. We limit Cerbos to 3 subjects to make sure our experts focus on their best skills.

You can create up to 10 courses under each subject.

Absolutely! On your course creation page under Packages, simply check Allow packages only. This will require customers to book a multi-session package. You can set a minimum of 3, 5, or 10 sessions. If you want to make an existing course multi-session only, go to Dashboard > My courses > Edit and follow the same steps.

The base price is the fee you set for each course before additional fees are charged. It represents the cost per 30, 45, or 60 minutes.

You can choose your prices, but there are minimums. The minimum base fee is USD 15 for 30-minute sessions, USD 20 for 45-minute sessions, USD 25 for 60-minute sessions, and USD 33 for 90-minute sessions.

Absolutely! Cerbos can set up prices according to:

  • - Course topic: e.g. Guitar Lessons for Beginners, Songwriting, or Making Your Way in the Music Industry.
  • - Course length: 30, 45, or 60 minutes.
  • - Course type: one-on-one or group sessions.

Cerbos can attract new customers by participating in the Free Trial Campaign.

New Cerbo users are granted two free trials: one for a one-on-one session and one for a group session. The one-on-one trial lasts 15 minutes, while the group free trial lasts 30. Cerbos must opt into this campaign by selecting “Participate in the Free Trial Campaign” when creating a new course.

Absolutely! You can offer trial discounts to anyone booking with you for the first time. Simply select “Offer 1st Trial Discount” when creating a new course and choose the discount you would like to offer.

Yes! Cerbos can set up packages of 3, 5, or 10 sessions for each course. They can also select discounts for each package.

To help manage the Cerbo platform, we charge learners a service fee and Cerbos an operating fee.

The operating fee for Cerbos is roughly 7% but may be higher for group sessions. It can further vary depending on currencies—if the Cerbo and learner use different currencies in a one-on-one session, for instance, the fee may increase. The operating fee is calculated based on the booking subtotal, which is the session rate and additional learner fee excluding taxes. It is automatically deducted from the payout to the instructor. When creating a course and selecting a base price, the Your earnings section displays how much you will earn each session.

The learner service fee ranges from 0% to 17% of the booking subtotal. It is calculated using a series of factors, including the booking subtotal, discounts, the length and type of the session, and other criteria.

Where Cerbo is legally required to collect VAT, the service fee and VAT amounts will be displayed on the course and booking confirmation pages.

Each time you receive a booking request you will receive an email containing the session details. You can see the request in your notifications. You can accept or reject it from notifications or from the dashboard.

Cerbos set session lengths when creating a course. One-on-one sessions may last 30, 45, or 60 minutes. You may also offer 15-minute one-on-one free trials. Group sessions may last 30, 60, or 90 minutes.

You're free to create course content as long as it does not violate our Terms of Service or Privacy Policy. You’re also responsible for controlling the pace of the course. Your customers will give you feedback following each session. This is intended to help you learn what’s going right and wrong with your courses.

The dashboard is your tool for managing sessions. From your dashboard, you can:

  • check your calendar
  • join sessions
  • reschedule or cancel future sessions
  • rate and rebook past sessions
  • write yourself reminders
  • check statistics on your Cerbo activity.

Make sure to message your customers through our platform if you know you’ll be late. Learners can leave a session and/or report you if you are not there on time. They can also request a full refund, which will count as if you canceled the session. Keep in mind that tardiness is automatically displayed on your profile. Try to reschedule or cancel the session to avoid having your tardiness negatively affect your course promotion.

If you’re on time, wait online in our session environment—you’ll still receive payment. Message your customer through Cerbo to figure out their situation.

After signing up, go to Settings > Payment method to add your payment and payout methods. You may use a credit card, debit card (U.S. residents only), and/or bank account information. You need a payment method to accept booking requests.

You may edit existing payment methods from Settings > Payment method.

The learner will be charged all session fees once you confirm the booking request. We hold all payments for 24 hours after your session is scheduled to end. This gives both parties time to ensure any issues are resolved.

There are two ways to get paid:

  • Request payroll: Go to Settings > Transaction history > Request payroll to request payroll. This can be done whenever there are funds in your Cerbo account.
  • Monthly payment: If you don’t request your payroll, or still have funds in your Cerbo account, we will transfer the remaining funds to your designated payout method each month. This will happen within 15 days of the end of the previous month. Cerbo will also email you a Monthly Report summarizing Cerbo instructor fees and any deducted Operating Fees.

We transfer funds to your Cerbo account 24 hours after a completed session. This process takes 3-7 business days. Once the funds are in your Cerbo account, you may request payroll at any time.

  • Request payroll: If you request payment via our payroll service, you’ll receive payment within 3-7 business days depending on your payment method.
  • Monthly payment: Otherwise we will transfer your balance to your designated payout method each month. While this is immediate on our part, the funds should typically take 3-7 business days to reach your account.

You must bring any errors to Cerbo’s attention within 3 days. At that point, you have accepted all fees described in the session report.

Cerbo will email you a written report each month. This will summarize the instructor fees paid and payable by Cerbo along with the total operating fees deducted and to be deducted.

You must bring any errors to Cerbo’s attention within 7 days. At that point, you have accepted all fees described in the Monthly Report.

You’ll message any potential customers who have contacted you. All messages will appear in your inbox. Contact us immediately if a message makes you uncomfortable or if someone tries to have you pay outside Cerbo. Paying and communicating through Cerbo is the only way to ensure that you’re protected under our Terms of Service and Rescheduling and Cancellation Policies.

Improving your profile and course pages is the best way to get your name out there. If you’re having trouble attracting customers, try these adjustments:

  • create videos for your profile and course pages
  • update your availability
  • select appropriate tags to define your courses

This will help potential customers find and contact you.

These are two factors that determine your position in the search results: Course factors and Cerbo factors. Course factors include the number of times your course has been taken and your course average score. Cerbo factors include the number of sessions you have held, your followers and badges, and your Cerbo average score.

Cerbo depends on a peer-review system, which serves as an additional source of quality control. Learners will be able to review you and your course after each session.

Only those who have completed a session with you are able to write a review.

Your customers will have the option to rate you and your course at the end of each session. They can leave a review for two weeks after the session. We will send reminders, but we can’t promise that all customers will leave a review. You’re free to encourage them to write a positive review.

Cerbos are rated on expertise, listening, commitment, enthusiasm, and communication. Course ratings are based on content, environment, appeal, structure, and relevance.

Our policies are intended to protect both Cerbos and learners. They provide guarantees to both sides in cases of last-minute cancellation, no-show, or payment failure/delay. Our ultimate goal is to respect the time and money both parties have invested.

You may only make one reschedule request per session, which should be made as far in advance as possible. It will be confirmed once accepted by your customer.

Your customer may not reply to your request. We do our best to notify them, but we cannot guarantee a response. In this case, you can keep the original date and time or cancel the session. Keep in mind that you can only cancel a limited number of sessions without facing penalties.

If they reject the request, you can keep the original date and time or cancel the session. Keep in mind that you can only cancel a limited number of sessions without facing penalties.

Yes, but only by canceling the session and inviting the enrollees to your new session. Once you reschedule, your group session will be changed to the new date and time regardless of your customers’ availability. Your new session will replace the original date and time.

Your customers are free to accept or reject your reschedule request. You won’t be able to manage or keep your original session, but your new session will be open for others.

Cerbo instructors choose one of four cancellation policies (Flexible, Standard, Slightly Firm, and Firm) when creating their courses. They are intended to respect the time and money both sides have invested.

You may cancel an upcoming session at Dashboard > Future Sessions > Modify > Cancel. Keep in mind that the number of canceled sessions is displayed on your profile. Canceling your session will negatively affect your course promotion and cause it to be placed further from the top in search results. Its chances of being featured in the "Most Popular" or related sections on the home page will also decrease.

An instructor who cancels more than 1 session in a 60 day period may be subject to penalties.

Cerbos may cancel up to 6 sessions per year and one per 60 days. We highly encourage you to reschedule if possible.

We will contact you 48 hours before your group session is scheduled to begin and ask whether you want to keep the session. Learners can only make instant bookings within 48 hours of a session. This means they cannot receive a refund even if they cancel. You can decide whether to leave your session open. If nobody has signed up 12 hours prior to the scheduled time, your session will be canceled automatically.
